Protecting Your Child Against AI.
I have made the decision that I will no longer be posting identifiable images of children on my photography page.
Signed release or not.
This is not a decision I made lightly. The 7th Circuit Court of Appeals recently ruled that privately possessing certain AI-generated CSAM depicting “fictional” children can be constitutionally protected when it remains within the home.That decision has honestly broken my heart and caused me to take a much harder look at what I am putting out into the world.
AI technology is advancing at an unbelievable rate. Images can be generated, manipulated, and made to look incredibly real. And once an image of a child is publicly available online, we no longer have complete control over where that image may go, how it may be copied, or how technology could potentially use it.
As a photographer, one of my favorite things has always been sharing the beautiful, joyful images I create for your families. I love showing you that I can photograph your children with those big smiles, sweet personalities, and little moments that make them who they are. And I still will. I just don't feel comfortable using their identifiable faces to promote my business anymore. I would rather sacrifice being able to show off every beautiful image than risk contributing to a world where your child's face could be used in ways you never intended.
That being said…
The only images I will be posting that include children will be images where their full face is not identifiable. I will also continue sharing my senior sessions, with written consent, of course. I know this may be disappointing, and honestly, it is disappointing to me too. I am proud of the work I create for your families, and I wish the world we live in made this decision easier. But as a mom of three young girls, I have to put myself in your shoes. As I am writing this on September 2, 2026, I will start this processes of no longer posting faces, everything up until this point that was posted will either stay or I will be slowly edited away.
The safety and privacy of your children will always come before my business.
Your babies are so much more important than a pretty picture on my feed. Thank you for trusting me to capture these memories. I will continue to love photographing your families, cheering on your babies, and creating images you will treasure forever. I am just choosing to protect them a little differently now.
